Live Equipment Training &  Equipment ROADeo Competition 

A full day of hands-on education and fun with your peers! 



  • This is an ALL DAY training & ROADeo Competition 
  • Must register and attend all day 
  • Limited to 30 students 
  • $100 fee includes: live equipment training, lunch, ROADeo competition with advancement possibilities to compete at the APWA National Competition later this year - must be employed in Oregon 
  • This portion of the school is held offsite, approximately 15 minutes from the Riverhouse
  • Students responsible for transportation & PPE 


Registration Requirements: 

  • ROADeo competitors must be employed in Oregon to advance to APWA National Competition or win any prizes 
  • Participants must be registered for the 2026 Spring Street Maintenance and Collection Systems School 
  • Participants must complete and submit the APWA High Risk Waiver Form - via email to events@oregon.apwa.org

Participant PPE Requirements: 

  • Participants will be required to wear a safety vest, required by the school - this vest is part of your PPE and must be visibly worn
  • Participants must provide their own hard hat 
  • Participants must wear safety toe shoes 
  • Refunds will not be provided for attendees who do not bring the proper required equipment.  

APWA-OR ROADeo Prizes (must be employed in Oregon): 

  • Top two competitors will receive a stipend for travel expenses and registration of up to $2,500 each, to attend the National Equipment ROADeo - location to be determined 
  • Top prize wins an APWA Custom Belt Buckle 

Compete in the 7th Annual Equipment ROADeo! 

The Equipment ROADeo is a timed competition event for street maintenance and collection systems operators who use heavy equipment to excavate street repairs or excavate to depths for pipe repair on collection systems. The course is designed to replicate normal working conditions with obstacles to simulate everyday working conditions around tree roots, utilities, and sanitary sewer and stormwater pipe systems. Operators will be able to demonstrate their skills through safety awareness, equipment knowledge, and equipment usage.
